Canadian female athletes come together to launch the Canada Women’s Soccer Alumni Association

VANCOUVER, BC (November 9, 2017) – The Canada Women’s Soccer Alumni & Players Association is proud to announce the Official Launch of the Canada Women’s Soccer Alumni Association. A Legacy of the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup One of the biggest legacies to be born out of the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup came from a core group of Canada Women’s Soccer Alumni who came together as part of the Alumni Recognition Ceremony that was hosted by the City of Vancouver and Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson at the Vancouver FAN ZONE during the final weekend of the event.

This proved to be a very powerful reunion as this core group of women realized that they had lost connection with each other and the sport that had enriched and impacted their lives in so many ways. From this, they realized that there was power in uniting past players, as well as bringing present and future players together, with the simple goal of honoring the past, supporting the present and inspiring the future.

Coming out of the World Cup, the Alumni and Players Association was formed This global event became the catalyst to activate the vision for the creation of the Canada Women’s Soccer Alumni and Players Association – the first Women’s Sports Organization of its kind to be formed in Canada by the women who played the sport.

Our Goal – Our internal mission of uniting past, present and future players to enrich women’s soccer in Canada is just the starting point and will translate into greater impact of and for women’s sport beyond the field of play.

Our organization strives to:

• Be a model for all women’s sport families in Canada and around the world

• Positively impact gender equality at all levels of sport and beyond

• Encourage and create role models to inspire women and girls to stay involved and connected to their sport at all stages of their career, and positively leverage each other to do so.

Please join us on November, 9th, 2017 at the BC Sports Hall of Fame after the Canada vs USA soccer game as we CONNECT PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE NATIONAL TEAM PLAYERS and take the first step towards initiating our collective mission to positively impact women in the sports world and beyond.
