The 2015 Bobbie Steen Legacy Foundation Award was awarded to Naomi Walser.
A world class women’s field lacrosse athlete, coach, and official who has worked with the BC Lacrosse Association in both a staff and volunteer capacity since 2007.
Naomi Walser has spent thousands of hours as a development coach in schools across the province introducing the game she loves to over 10,000 students. She has also been a leader with the aboriginal sport, recreation and physical activity partners council of BC, introducing lacrosse to hundreds of children within aboriginal communities across BC. Her passion and drive for the game of lacrosse has been the catalyst for the growth of the BCLA’s women’s field and female box lacrosse programs at the developmental and high performance levels. As coach of BC under 19 team, 14 players out of the 18 player roster went on to receive scholarships and play in the NCAA. Two of these players went on to play for team Canada, one receiving MVP in the recent under 19 world championship game where Canada took home gold. As a high performance athlete and certified official herself, she has inspired many young women to hone their skills on the field and floor.
